RUMOR: Lotus, Pigs on the Wing, STS9 Acoustic, Break Science at Re:Generation 2011

b_225_224_16777215_00___images_0_Images_NickRhodes_Misc_old_stories_folder_festivalguide_regen.jpgRumors are swirling again as longtime STS9 tour manager Eric Pirritt has resurfaced on the band's unofficial message board to continue to leak the lineup for Re:Generation 2011, which is now likely to include a special acoustic set and the return of Pigs on the Wing - a Pink Floyd cover band featuring bassist David Murphy.

In the wee hours of the morning of Friday, April 8, Pirritt also posted pictures of Lotus, Brendan Angelides (who could be playing as ESKMO or Welder), Polish Ambassador, Paper Diamond (Alex B. of Pnuma Trio's latest solo project) and Break Science.

Re:Generation, which is back for the second time after a four-year hiatus, already boasts a lineup that includes Bassnectar, The New Deal, The Glitch Mob, Beats Antique, Tycho, Emancipator and of course, three shows of STS9. The event will take place at the famed Horning's Hideout in North Plains, OR from June 23 to 26. For the complete lineup, ticket prices and more details, check out our 2011 Festival Guide.

But Pigs on the Wing is the most enticing news of the leak. With less than ten performances under their belt, the band is a rare treat. The band is made up of Murphy, Matt Weiss of Collective Efforts, Coley Dennis of Maserati, Mike Albanese of Cinemechanica, Alfredo Lapuz Jr. and Stanley Walker of Velveteen Pink, Count Kellam and Tim Conley. (Thanks, Wikipedia.)

While not as big a surprise, the acoustic set is definitely another bonus. After the success of the first "Axe The Cables" show during the New Year's Eve run in 2009, STS9 took the show on the road, playing in a few select cities and at Mayan Holidaze this past January.

Lotus is arguably the first second-tier headliner announced since Bassnectar and will surely fit in well at this event.

Check out the festival website for more details about the event and ticketing information.
