Phish To Release New DVD, “Coral Sky”
- Published on September 16, 2010
- By john john
Filmed on November 2nd , 1996, “Coral Sky” is a 2-disc DVD set capturing a deeply experimental performance at the Coral Sky Amphitheater in West Palm Beach, FL. Phish had just come off an intense Halloween performance, showcasing The Talking Heads’ “Remain In Light” as their musical-costume.
This ’96 performance is often cited as a fan-favorite, highlighted by an improvisational peak in a second set pairing of The Talking Heads’ “Crosseyed and Painless” segued into “Run Like An Antelope”.
“Coral Sky” depicts the band in a transitional period as they generated a more rhythmic and textured style, full of deep group improvisation. Percussionist Karl Perazzo of Santana sat in with the band during the show, and drummer Butch Trucks of The Allman Brothers Band also sat in during the encore.
The DVD will be in stores October 19th, and can be pre-ordered from Phish Dry Goods.
