AREA INFORMATION

Closest Hotel To Venue:
Don't get a hotel in New York City. Your best bet is to look in New Jersey and take a train over to Manhattan.

Local Food Choice:
If you head down to the village before, there are a lot of great places to grab a bite. My recommendation would be to get something to go, walk around and experience the chaos of New Year's in the Big Apple. Here are some of my favorite grab-and-go places:

Taim Falafel and Smoothie Bar – 222 Waverly Place
Bleecker Street Pizza – 69 7th Avenue South
Tribeca Taco Truck – Spring St. and Broadway

Local Bar Choice:
Fat Cat

75 Christopher Street - 1.3 miles from venue (5 minutes by cab)
(919) 896-6016

$3.00 cover for live jazz, $2.00 PBRs, reasonably priced shuffle puck, ping pong and pool – could you ask for more?

Local Transportation:
Cardinal Cab

ANALYSIS AND PREDICTION:

I think everyone is hoping that Phish comes into the New Year’s run just as hot as they left off the summer tour.  However, given the vast amount of time that has transpired since the summer shows, I think they might be a little rusty the first few days. Hopefully, they hit their stride early and are in full throttle by the time they hit the New Years Eve show.

I didn’t feel their performances last year at Madison Square Garden measured up to their Halloween run in Atlantic City. On the plus side, a four-night run means that fans are almost guaranteed to get their favorite songs one of the nights.

Whatever they bring to the table this run, there’s still no place I’d rather ring in the New Year than with Phish at MSG.

Song Predicted To Ring In 2012: 2001 > Auld Lang Syne
