French-born guitarist/composer Stephane Wrembel has released his new album, "Origins" today. Wrembel learned his craft among the Gypsies at campsites in the French countryside of Fontainebleau. Jam band fans can appreciate that he absolutely rips it on guitar.
The virtuoso has garnered residencies at the prestigious Barbes in Brooklyn, NY as well as being chosen by legendary film scorer Hans Zimmer to play the 2012 Academy Awards in the "All Star Band."
He's also scored films like Woody Allen's recent "Midnight In Paris." A previously unreleased version of the popular song from that movie, "Bistro Fada," is available on "Origins."
Check out his recent performance on WNYC Soundcheck. Wrembel is hosting a CD release party on Thursday, May 17 at 9:30 p.m. at Joe's Pub at The Public Theater in New York City. Tickets are just $22.00 and are available now.
