Beats Antique Releases Contraption Vol. 2

558299_10151013494310669_517531090_n.jpeg

Roughly three years after the release of Volume I, Beats Antique release their second addition to the Contraption discography.  Boasting eight new tracks as well as the appearance of special guests Lynx and San Francisco's own PowerHouse Balken Brass Band, Brass Menažeri, the album is a testament and response to the highly energetic live show experiences the band has versed throughout the last quarter of a decade.  Also featured on the album is a Beats Antique remix of Filastine's "Colony Collapse".

The band has offered fans a free download of "Skeleton Key", a track first debuted early last week on the band's soundcloud.  You can pick it up today from the band directly - "Skeleton Key" from Contraption Volume II - Free Download.

Fans can most certainly look forward to receiving a healthy dose of tracks from Contraption Vol. II on tour this fall.

The Los Angeles based interactive environment company Do Lab offered fans an insight as to what live-show theatrics one may expect on tour in an article earlier this month. As Sidecar Tommy Cappel told Do Lab, "We have been working on new music, new performances, and [are] finding new ways to create more immersive experiences for the audience.  We're breaking down more walls and getting closer to our fans.  It's the full show experience with lights, crazy props, and a wild roller-coaster of different music," (DukeDuRock, Do Lab).

Touring throughout most of the United States with supporting artist Lynx until just after Halloween at Park West in Chicago, IL when the band heads to Australia to spend six days at the Symbiosis Festival in Queensland. Beats Antique wrap up their stay in the land down under on November 22nd in Melborne as part of the 2012 Melborne Music Week. After making a quick stop in Egypt for The Great Convergence on December 21st, the band returns to the U.S. for two nights in Bridgetown at the Crystal Ballroom, taking place Dec 27th and 28th. Then finally, Beats Antique celebrate New Year's Eve in Seattle, Washington at the Paramount Theater.  Full tour dates can be found at the band's website.

The album is available today. Pick it up at the band's merch store or on iTunes.

The Manhattan Project Hits The Northeast

The Manhattan Project, a live electronic duo consisting of Shawn Drogan on drums and electronics and Charlie Lindner on keyboards and synths, has been doling out sold-out shows across multiple regions since the band was formed in 2010. And they're headed to a city near you this fall.

The duo’s liveliness, creative compositions and broad musical influences have led them to the forefront of the electronic scene, picking up new fans every stop they make. Opening for bands like Lotus, Conspirator, Future Rock and others has also led to an influx of national attention, paving the way for collaborations and radio station performances.

After releasing their new EP “Atomic Bomb Party Vol. 2” in April, the band is now mid-tour, playing shows all over the Northeast. On August 18 in Logan, Ohio, The Manhattan Project will share the stage with Papadosio, Ott, Dopapod and others at Rootwire 2012.

CrowdsEye’s Cure For The Post-Festival Blues

Sonic Bloom 2012 - User: iamthecarpenter

As the last leg of festival season begins, you may already begin to feel the nostalgic onset of the “festival blues,” occupying everything you do. Fortunately, Headstash has discovered the cure. CrowdsEye, a new live-event based social network, began earlier this year as a way to replace that lost feeling with a user-generated content based contest after each event.

The CrowdsEye Challenges have been embraced by festivals and fans alike, who relive their favorite moments through story submissions and personal photos in a variety of categories like best guitar face, art installation, luxorious campgrounds and glow stick madness.

At Electric Forest 2012, the user with the most points received two VIP tickets to next year’s event as well as a merchandise package, all provided by the festival organizers. At Colorado’s Sonic Bloom earlier this year, the winner received four VIP tickets to Sonic Bloom 2013 as well as two posters autographed by the entire lineup. All this just for sharing their photos, stories and reviews from the weekend.

Because at the end of the day, shouldn’t you be rewarded for your efforts?

As this year’s festival season comes to a close, check out all the content posted on CrowdsEye to see what everyday fans are experiencing. Check back with CrowdsEye for official challenges at upcoming festivals like Gnarnia and Harvest as well as their unofficial Phish summer tour challenge, which ends two weeks after the Denver shows. In the meantime, here are some of the summer’s best submissions:
