Widespread Panic, on hiatus following their winter 2012 all-acoustic Wood Tour, announced earlier today that they will release a double live CD of the tour’s many highlights – dubbed “Wood” – on October 16.
In addition to the two-disk CD set, a limited-edition three-LP boxed set will also be made available. The boxed set will include three 180-gram vinyl LPs, a booklet of photos and notes from guitarist John Bell, and a limited edition poster. The LP and CD packages will also include download codes for MP3s of the songs and for the booklet.
Panic’s Wood Tour was the southern jam stalwarts’ first fully-acoustic tour, with a multi-night run in each of the four cities they visited – Silver Spring, MD; Atlanta; Denver; and Aspen. “Wood” showcases acoustic versions of some of the band’s most beloved songs (including “Tall Boy,” “Climb to Safety,” “C Brown,” and “Ain’t Life Grand”) along with some rare covers such as Sonny Boy Williamson’s (and Deadhead favorite) “Good Morning Little Schoolgirl,” Jimmy Cliff’s “Many Rivers to Cross,” and John Lennon’s “The Ballad of John and Yoko.”
