The New Deal to Headline Equifunk 2011

***UPDATED: May 10, 2011***

Equifunk will bring the funk once again to Equinunk, PA from August 19 to 20 this summer. Tickets - priced at $275.00 - include cabin reservation and all you can eat and drink with unlimited beer. Camping passes are now $155.00.

So far, the lineup includes The New Deal, Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, Adam Deitch from Break Science and Pretty Lights, Robert Walter from Greyboy Allstars and Eddie Roberts from The New Mastersounds.

Equifunk promises to be a great weekend in which attendees are being encouraged to "leave your wallet at home." Yep, you read that first line right: food and drink for both days are included in the price of your ticket.

Not only that but, Equifunk boasts a resort-size swimming pool, indoor bathrooms with showers and the option to stay in a private cabin with 10 friends - the ultimate all-inclusive festival experience. There is also the option to buy a camping ticket for the weekend for those who want to save a little money. Camping passes still include all you can eat/drink in the price.

With the recent announcement that The New Deal will not be playing after this year, Equifunk seems like a great place to catch them one last time in a festival setting.

Check out www.equifunk.com for the full lineup, tickets, and artist additions.

STS9, Bassnectar, Ghostland Observatory To Play Nocturnal Festival

b_150_150_16777215_00___images_0_Images_NickRhodes_nocturnal.jpg

The all-night rager that is Nocturnal Festival, TX has tapped a very impressive lineup for its second installment in the Lone Star State including STS9, Bassnectar, Disco Biscuit's side-project Conspirator and Ghostland Observatory.

The festival, presented by California-based Insomniac Productions, came to Texas for a trial run last September and is wasting no time capitalizing on the success it enjoyed last fall.

In addition to the excellent list of headliners, festival goers will be treated to the bleeps, blaps and womps of Big Gigantic, Paul Oakenfold, Mr. Oizo, Galactic, Tipper, Eskmo and Beats Antique and many more still to be announced.

The Nocturnal website has not been updated yet, but one of the local promoters just announced via Facebook, check out the screen cap below.

So for those of you who can make it down to Tejas, get ready to rage!!

Harmony Festival Sneak Peek: Flaming Lips and Railroad Earth

b_150_150_16777215_00___images_0_Images_AustenBailey_harmony.jpg

For those who don't want to brave the intense heat and 100,000 plus crowds of Bonnaroo, there's an alternative festival taking place the same weekend in beautiful and cool Northern California.

Harmony Festival, taking place June 10 to 12, celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2008 and showcases the latest trends in health, music, ecology, arts and spirituality. They claim to be the original festival to appeal to the "green lifestyle" and it seems they put their money where their mouth is with numerous greening initiatives and green-conscious speakers.

The initial lineup includes The Flaming Lips, Railroad Earth, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and Grace Potter and the Nocturnals as well as a few smaller acts. Past festivals have included Damian Marley, George Clinton, Slighty Stoopid, Steel Pulse, Galactic, Tipper, Ott, Ana Sia, Beats Antique, 7 Walkers feat. Papa Mali, Steve Kimock and Bill Kreutzmann, the former drummer for the Grateful Dead.

Right now they are offering a special "sneak peek" ticket price for $180.00 with camping and $150.00 without. Head on over to their website and keep checking back as more of the lineup is revealed.

Snowball Music Festival Taps Pretty Lights, The Flaming Lips to Headline

b_150_150_16777215_00___images_0_Images_AustenBailey_Snowball.jpg

It seems like every time you get on the Interwebs these days a new electronic festival has popped up.

Most of these festivals are all-night ragers where attendees get their fill of highlighter-colored clothing, loud bass music and a plenty of spun-out ragers to dance with. However, it seems that the people at the Snowball Music Festival, taking place in Vail Valley, CO from March 4 to 6 are offering something extra to go with all that bass for your face.

In addition to headlining acts Pretty Lights, Bassnectar and The Flaming Lips, Snowball is offering festivalgoers an opportunity to purchase "Music + Lift" skiing combo tickets in order to experience the natural beauty that Colorado has to offer. For those less inclined to hit the slopes, there will be plenty of music for your ears and eyes to experience.

Local favorites Big Gigantic, Paper Diamond and EOTO are on the bill as are other great indie and electronic acts such as Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Lotus, Local Natives, Portugal. The Man, Michal Menert and 12th Planet. Currently, tickets are $115.00.

The festival just released a free mixtape with tunes from Pretty Lights, Bassnectar and more so if you're looking to get away and start your festival season early, head over to their website, download the mixtape and check out what's in store for this year's "Snowchella," and as always, keep jamming.

Eminem, Arcade Fire, Widespread Panic to Headline Bonnaroo 2011

b_150_150_16777215_00___images_0_Images_Bonnaroo2002.jpg

'Tis the season for festy lineup announcements.

What has been perhaps the most anticipated festival announcement of the season did not disappoint in any way. Taking place in Manchester, TN for its tenth year from June 9 to 12, Bonnaroo has become the premiere event that thousands anxiously awaits each year.

Along with headliners and recent Grammy winners Eminem and Arcade Fire, Bonnaroo has tapped a slew of amazing talent including Widespread Panic, String Cheese Incident, STS9, Girl Talk, Bassnectar and Beats Antique.

Only moments after the line up was announced, the official Bonnaroo website crashed momentarily due to high traffic volume.

What started out as a jam-oriented festival has evolved into something larger - much to the chagrin of jam band purists and mainstream detractors. This year's festival is no different, with diverse hip-hop acts, electronic DJs and indie bands to go along with a few classic rock legends and jam band heroes.

The fourth annual Purple Hatter’s Ball will take place May 13 to 15, 2011 at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, FL - the same place as the Bear Creek festival.

This three-day festival is held in honor of longtime friend of the Florida live music scene, Rachel Morningstar Hoffman, who was notorious for wearing a purple fuzzy hat to concerts. Hoffman was murdered while acting as a police informant during a botched drug sting. The lineup has been announced and is listed below. Tickets are only $45.00 in advance and $60.00 at the gate and include music, camping and all fees.
