Nestled among the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, The Festival of Gnarnia is slowly gaining notoriety as one of the more anticipated festivals of the summer.
The three-day festival, taking place August 9 to 11, is set to take place at the Beech Mountain Resort in Beech Mountain, NC. The scenic venue is located amid the highest town in the East, at an elevation of about 5,500 feet, with 150 acres overlooking some of the oldest mountains on the planet.
A final lineup announcement will be made on April 23, but the initial lineup already boasts a diverse assortment of acts from the jam, roots and electronic scenes, including Beats Antique, 7 Walkers, 12th Planet, Ott, Afroman, Tipper, The Polish Ambassador, Govinda, Midnite, Emancipator, Papadosio, Gramatik, Gift of Gab, and Toubab Krewe. The final installment of their initial lineup will be announced later tonight.
The Festival of Gnarnia, utilizing a play on words from the popular children's novel and subsequent movie series with a gnarly twist, promises a variety of events including a costume ball, mud wrestling, workshops, performing arts, hikes and lodging rentals.
Ski lifts will be running to the top of the mountain for revelers to partake in yoga workshops, meditation and merely just to watch the sunset and enjoy the view. The resort also features a number of restaurants, clubs and bars along with a variety of cabins, chalets and slope-side vacation rentals for those wishing to stay off-site.
A limited amount of “Gnearly bird” passes are now available on the festival's website for $75.00.
