Band Analysis: All Good 2011

With no overlapping sets and a ton of amazing acts on the bill, All Good 2011 had something for everyone. We went through (almost) every band at the festival and gave them a ranking from one to five in three separate categories.
We judged the quality of playing – how tight they were, how was the jamming, how it sounded overall. The song selection – did they play any unique covers, did the songs fit the atmosphere, did they bust out popular songs or rarer material? And finally, the atmosphere – how did the crowd react, how were the lights, how did the artist command the stage? Check out what our staff had to say about the bands below:
| PERFORMER | Quality of Playing | Song Selection | Atmosphere | Notes |
| THURSDAY | ||||
| Beats Antique | Perfect danceable set to open a festival | |||
| John Butler Trio | Thoughtful songwriting, egoless presentation | |||
| STS9 | Patient playing, awesome lighting, "Circus" 'nuff said | |||
| FRIDAY | ||||
| Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad | Tight playing, but tough to translate to a big stage | |||
| That 1 Guy | Avante garde? Maybe. A confusing act for sure. | |||
| Infamous Stringdusters | Lots of energy and zest in their bluegrass stylings | |||
| Galactic | Should have been a late-night. So much energy | |||
| Dana Fuchs | Not quite as good as in "Across The Universe" | |||
| Keller Williams | Usual silliness got people moving | |||
| Warren Haynes Band | Warren Haynes at his best | |||
| Toubab Krewe | A bit monotonous and Furthur was running late | |||
| Furthur | Low-energy, but the crowd was having a blast | |||
| Big Gigantic | Just what the doctor ordered. Amazing perfomance | |||
| Umphrey's McGee | Crazy covers amazed the crowd. Oddly infectious | |||
| SATURDAY | ||||
| Marco Benevento | Catchy songs, rocking set | |||
| JJ Grey and Mofro | A lot of preaching and ranting with some Southern Rock sprinkled in | |||
| These United States | Crowd seemed confused but the playing was impressive | |||
| Rebelution | A bit repetitive, but people were digging it | |||
| Yonder Mountain String Band | Foot-stomping bluegrass got the crowd going wild | |||
| moe. | Spacey, catchy and impossible not to get down to | |||
| Papadosio | Textured dance grooves, bouncy and fun | |||
| Primus | Primus really does suck. | |||
| Pretty Lights | Best set of the festival. Perfect mix, great stage presense | |||
| SUNDAY | ||||
| All Mighty Senators | Tough to play on a groggy Sunday morning | |||
| Greensky Bluegrass | Crowd was sparse but the playing was great |
